‘Sikandar’ Sees Decline in Collections, Nears Rs 100 Crore Mark

Salman Khan’s latest film, Sikandar, has seen a moderate performance at the box office since its release on March 30. While the film registered an initial strong opening, it has not matched the earnings of Khan’s previous blockbusters.

On its opening day, Sunday, Sikandar collected Rs 26 crore across domestic theatres. The earnings saw an uptick on Monday, coinciding with the Eid holiday, reaching Rs 29 crore. However, the figures remained below the opening records of Khan’s past films such as Tiger 3 and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

The momentum slowed on Tuesday, with earnings dropping by approximately 32 per cent to Rs 19.5 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Early estimates for Wednesday indicate a further decline, with morning show collections at Rs 99 lakh. By the end of the fourth day, the film is expected to register a double-digit collection.

The total box office earnings for Sikandar currently stand at Rs 76.01 crore. In multiple regions, the film is facing screen replacements. Theatres in Surat and Ahmedabad have opted for alternative releases like The Diplomat and regional films such as All The Best Pandya. However, in Mumbai’s Gaiety and Galaxy single-screen theatres, Sikandar continues to hold its ground, replacing L2 Empuraan in some time slots.

Trade analysts indicate that the film is on track to reach Rs 100 crore by its fifth day. However, industry expectations were higher, given Salman Khan’s track record and the Eid release advantage. Ideally, a film of this scale was projected to surpass the Rs 100 crore mark within the first three days.
